You may have heard of Mindfulness Meditation but do you know what it is?

Mindfulness meditation is a research-based meditation called Vipassana or Insight Meditation from ancient Buddhist practice.

It was created to prevent you from experiencing fear and anxiety by focusing your breath and other internal and external experiences with acceptance and compassion.

By paying attention to your thoughts, physical sensations, sights, sounds, smells, and anything you do not normally notice, you will develop a state of calm.

Although mindfulness skills may seem simple, they are practiced at the right time because being intelligent is very different from your normal way of thinking.

Our minds are often engrossed in thoughts about the past or future - thinking about what we should or should not do, which prevents us from being in the moment and knowing what is going on around us at any given time.

The primary focus in Mindfulness Meditation is your breathing, but the primary goal is to allow calm, undecided awareness, thoughts, and feelings to come and go regardless of them, which eliminates intense anxiety and worry.

So, how do you do mindfulness meditation?

  1. Sit comfortably, with your eyes closed and your spine reasonably upright.
  2. Be sure to take deep breaths in and out through your diaphragm.
  3. When there are thoughts, feelings, physical feelings, or external sounds, accept them and allow them to come and go without judgment.
  4. When you notice that you are distracted and focused on your thoughts or feelings, recognize it, and slowly bring your awareness to your breath.
  5. It is natural for ideas to come up and catch your attention. This happens every time you bring your attention to your breath.
  6. Do 15 minutes of Mindfulness Meditation every day to experience the benefits of a calm, serene, and relaxed mind.
